I'm really not feeling too well.
It's funny I probably could've ended Shannon's Story last week, but there's still SO MUCH TO TELL!
Have the next installment!
Another year was beginning. Shannon raced to school to meet with Amanda, Aberdine and Eddie before classes so they could sync their schedules. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't excited. After the last year she felt like nothing could possibly be worse.
It was already off to a less than stellar start. Eddie's parents insisted he drive to and from school and stay at home instead of with Shannon. They'd only be able to see each other at school. And if their schedules didn't sync at all, the next time they'd see each other would be Christmas break.
Aberdine was sure to be busy if she wins the election to student council president. She was the most popular candidate before the summer break. In a few weeks time they'd be voting. If she won all her free time would be spent on student council activities.
At least Amanda wouldn't be too busy. Now they were older she'd have to tryout for the senior girls basketball team so she won't be as busy planning practices and making sure the team was in good shape. Still something felt off to Shannon. Like Amanda had been hiding something recently.
Shannon came to a stop at the bottom of the steps when she noticed none of her friends were there. Was she the first one to school? Or worse, was she late?
She rushed up the steps and through the front doors where she found Eddie, Amanda and Jasmine waiting by the principals door.
"Hey. I thought we agreed to meet outside so we could sync our schedules." Shannon said.
"The principal wanted to speak with Aberdine about her running for student council president." Amanda said somberly. "Something about campaign promises she can't keep."
"I thought she was joking when she said she'd promise three day weekends every week." Shannon said.
"We don't know what it was, we're not allowed in." Eddie said.
"Oh. Well did you guys sync your schedules yet?" Shannon asked.
"Yeah." Amanda said handing over her schedule. "Looks like I'm not in anyones classes this year. I don't even have lunch with you guys."
"I guess I'll just have to see you on the walk home when you're not busy with basketball." Shannon said looking over their collective schedules.
"We have Contemporary Chinese Literature together." Eddie told her taking his schedule back. "But that's not until semester two."
"We have art together!" Jasmine beamed.
"Hi, Jasmine." Shannon tried to smile sincerely. "I didn't even notice I had your schedule."
"Yep! It'll be fun!" She said in an unusually bubbly voice. The bell wrang and the students started to file into the school. "I'll see you last period Shan-shan!" Jasmine called as she ran off to her first class.
"Shan-shan?" Eddie laughed.
Shannon just shook her head. "Was anyone else confused by that?" Shannon turned to Amanda who just sighed.
"Jasmine's got her first boyfriend. Some guy she met in the summer. He's in college so she's excited. She's been so cheerful all summer." Amanda looked over her shoulder to make sure Jasmine was gone. "It's kind of annoying."
"Well, I'm happy for her." Shannon said.
"That's the spirit, Shan-shan." Eddie laughed. "I'll see you guys later." Eddie dragged himself off into the crowd of students.
"We should probably get to classes too." Amanda said as she started towards the gym.
"But what about Aberdine?" Shannon asked.
"She's a big girl. She can handle herself."
Amanda disappeared into the crowd of students. Shannon took one last look at the principals door before she turned and headed to her first class of the year.
