Short Story

Today's entry is about a small heist.

Since yesterday's entry was kind of weak I wanted to work harder on this months entries. After all this is the last month for the blogs. Come January I don't know what I'll be doing. Maybe I'll keep them going a bit longer, updating occasionally.

Who knows?

Anyways. Enjoy!

One Sweet Heist

He popped the cap off his bottle of beer and poured it slowly into his glass. He watched as the liquid bubbled and frothed over the rim dripping ever so slightly down. He smiled. Took a sip. And leaned back to relax in his fire red convertible.

Howard had spent months planning this heist and now was the time to relax. He and his compatriot had just robbed a small time bakery in the downtown core. It wasn't a lot of money, but it was enough to afford him a vacation for the next five years.

Howard took a long swig of his beer. He bleched and wiped his mouth on his sleeve. The clerk at the store didn't know what was happening. Howard and his partner stormed the store right after close. Howard had the gun pointed at the kid the whole time. They had him open the till and empty its contents into a sack the other man brought. Afterwards they tied him to the radiator and slid out the back door where Howard's red convertible was waiting.

It all went down in an instant. And the best part is, no one will ever catch them because his partner owned the bakery.

Howard's partner was a man named David Anderson. He owned the bakery and recently took out a very large insurance policy, making sure he would be heavily compensated for theft and armed robbery. He had to have surveillance camera's installed to qualify but that wasn't a problem. He had them sabotaged the week before. Some guy from the company that installed them was supposed to show up tomorrow to fix them. Too bad tonight the place was robbed.

Howard finished his beer and tossed the empty bottle out of the car. It smashed on the asphalt. He tossed the glass under the seat and turned the ignition, pulled onto the empty road and drove off.
