This is the first direct continuation of another story. I didn't really intend this but we'll see where it goes. As of right now I'm not sure what I'll be writing for the next little while, so just hang in there and hopefully something will work out.
Angel
The First National Bank of Dryden loomed like tower before Lawrence. It had been almost a year since he lost his job at the library. The bills were piling up and he'd blasted through all his savings in a week. He took out a loan to help keep him afloat and had been doing odd jobs for neighbors and borrowing money from his parents and friends to keep himself afloat. But now...
Lawrence walked through the doors. The bank seemed to enclose around him. He could feel the physical weight of his debt. He looked around at the accusatory eyes of the tellers and miscellaneous staff. Thankfully there was a long line, he could work up the nerve to explain why he'll be missing the next few payments on his loan.
As Lawrence waited it seemed like the length of the line didn't matter. People were quickly and efficiently served and left just as swiftly. Figures the days you need time in line are the days the bank tellers are on their A game. Lawrence could feel the panic rising in him. He was about to just leave when the the next free teller waved him over.
Swallowing hard, Lawrence walked over to the teller.
"Can I speak to a manager please?"
"Um, let's see if I can help you with whatever it is, sir."
"It's about my loan repayment. I really need to speak with a manger."
"Oh-kay." The teller got up from their seat and went into the back. Lawrence smiled inwardly at having bought himself some time to think of an excuse.
Now, what to tell them. His house burned down! No they would've read about it in the paper if that happened. He lost his job? Well, that was true but doubtful it would fly. A dinosaur rampage! What? Dinosaurs aren't even alive!
The manager came out from the back. "How can I help you?"
Great! All Lawrence could think of was dinosaurs! What was he going to do?
"Sir?"
"It's about my, loan repayment." Lawrence started. He swallowed hard.
The manger snorted and turned towards the monitor on the desk. "I'll look up your loan I just need some information." Lawrence gave his information to the manager. After a few minutes of typing the manager frowned looking at the screen. Lawrence had missed his last payment. He was about to hear about it.
"I don't see what the problem is, sir. Your loan has been fully repaid."
"What? How is that even possible!"
"It says in our system your loan was repaid by an anonymous investor a few months ago." The manager looked at Lawrence expectantly.
"Uh, ok then." Lawrence nodded. "I guess, I don't need help after all. Thanks." Lawrence turned and left the bank not sure of what to make of the entire ordeal. Somehow he felt like he had a chance to make things right again, and he wasn't going to waste it.
