We keep on rolling down the life of Shannon! Just a short add on today!
Not much flavour text, sorry.
"JEREMY!" The goof ball boys all yelled in chorus. He waved and took a bow as the class broke into laughter.
Shannon had never seen anything cooler.
"Jeremy if you would like to take a seat? Everyone else, settle down!" Mr. Newport commanded.
Jeremy walked over to his goof ball friends who moved their stuff around to reveal a chair they'd hidden for him. Shannon was annoyed by this. Not only did they hide that there was space at their table for others to sit there but the only other available seat was at her table. Jeremy should have, in theory, been sitting across from her.
Shannon spent most of first period thinking about the unfair situation she was thrust into. Sitting at a table with a group of strangers while Jeremy sat on the other end of the room. She tried to take notes to distract herself but the class was light on work because it was the first day.
After first period she hung around to see if Jeremy was in her next class. No such luck. First Math then History, two classes she didn't like. Her history teacher was also so boring. He droned slowly on about how history was the single most important topic they'd study in high school. He even moved slowly. Shannon likened him to a tortoise without a shell, he even had a vaguely greenish colour about him.
Finally lunch bell rang and Shannon took off to find Amanda.
"His name is Jeremy and he's the coolest guy ever, and he sits on the other side of the class which he shouldn't cause there's a spot at my table but his friends hid a chair for him so he had to sit there and he's cute and..."
"Slow down!" Amanda threw up her hands as Shannon unloaded on her. "This morning you were talking about the future and now you can't stop talking about some guy in your class?"
Shannon blushed. "He's not just SOME guy! What if he's like, the Fredrick to my Meredith?"
"And what if he's just some guy?" Eddie chimed in. "You know not everyone gets to have a high school sweetheart."
"Don't be a downer, Eddie." Amanda hushed him. "Look, if he is the one for you just talk to him. I'm sure you'll hit it off."
Shannon fell silent. For the first time she felt out of her element. She was good at talking to people when she was little but over the years she became more and more private. She wasn't sure where to start.
"Um. Maybe you could help me with that?"
Amanda slung her arm around Shannon. "Don't worry young grasshopper, I'll train you."
Eddie rolled his eyes. "Can we get some lunch? I'm starving."
"Always killing the mood, Eddie. You need to lighten up." Amanda playfully slapped Eddie's stomach.
