Its May! That means I don't have to keep up my schedule anymore!
I will, but only until something better comes along....
So here's the next installment of my continued story! It's a short one this time.
"Eddie's a jerk! Don't worry about him!" Amanda tried to cheer up Shannon after a particularly annoying day which Eddie had spent teasing and chasing Shannon around during lunch. "Besides, the school years over, its not like you have to see him ever again!"
"Actually, he's my cousin." Shannon shamefully admitted as they walked to their usual split up spot.
"Oooh. Not cool. So you have to see him anyways huh? That's rough."
The two friends walked in silence for a bit.
"Well, if he's giving you trouble, just give me a call! I'll come over and beat him up for you!" Amanda reassured he friend. Shannon smiled feigning comfort. She didn't want her friend to beat up her cousin.
They stopped at their split up spot.
"Are you gonna be ok?" Amanda asked.
"I'll be fine. I just need to go home and get my mind off of Eddie."
"If you wanna talk just call me ok?" Amanda hugged Shannon and walked off down the park path. Shannon sighed and continued up the street for a bit.
She walked with her head down examining the sidewalk as she continued home. Shannon just wanted to forget today had happened. Eddie had been teasing and harassing her all day. She just wanted to go home to Fredrick and Meredith.
As she walked up the street to her house she noticed another car in the driveway. Visitors. Shannon ran up the house to see who it was. As she got to the front door it swung open to see her uncle Arthur.
"Hi, Uncle Arthur! What brings you here?" Shannon greeted cheerfully.
"Huh? Oh, hello, Shannon." was Arthur's confused reply. He seemed to be distracted. "I'm just dropping Eddie off here for a while."
"What!? Why?!"
"His mother is pregnant and he's been acting up." Arthur looked around and straightened his tie. "It's best Eddie be out of the house, at least until the baby is born. I have to go. It was nice seeing you, Shannon."
Arthur hurried to his car and drove off. Shannon, still in shock, slowly walked into the house hoping she had imagined her interaction with Uncle Arthur. She put her bag down at the door and took her shoes off. There was an extra pair of sneakers at the front door.
She walked into the kitchen where Meredith was serving sandwiches to Eddie.
"Hello sweetie! It looks like your cousin Eddie will be staying with us for a a few months! Isn't that wonderful?" Eddie smiled smugly.
Shannon started to cry.
