Double the Shannon
Double the Dip!
Wait, what?!
Eddie and Amanda sat looking unenthusiastic in the back seat as Shannon rode shotgun. Fredrick grumbled about driving in the poor weather conditions.
"You're only going to study?" Fredrick asked again.
"Yes, Fredrick!" Shannon sighed. "I told you, Beth, Ben and Damien will all be there from school. We're just studying for exams and nothing else."
"And Beth's parents will be home the entire time?" He asked.
"Yes." Shannon sighed loudly again.
"I'll pick you up at eight o'clock sharp! I want to see you waiting at the front door." Fredrick commanded.
"Uncle Fredrick." Eddie chimed in, leaning over the back seat. "I'll do my best to make sure we're all ready and waiting by eight."
"Good boy, Eddie." Fredrick smiled. "Keep an eye on these girls. They get out of hand when no ones watching." Fredrick grinned.
"Don't I know it." Eddie laughed. Amanda jabbed him in the rib.
The pulled up the house. Beth was waiting outside and waved from the front door. Eddie and Amanda bolted from the car the second it came to a stop. Shannon was about get out when Fredrick stopped her.
"If you need me for anything just call the house. Meredith and I will come right away." Fredrick said.
"I will, Fredrick." Shannon said. She smiled and closed the door.
"You made it!" Beth beamed. "These must be your friends?" She said gesturing to Amanda who was chasing Eddie around throwing snow at him.
"That's them alright." Shannon laughed. "The one with the snow is Amanda, I've known her since I was ten. And the one running away like a coward is my cousin, Eddie."
Amanda came running over. "Heya!" She smiled.
"Hi, I'm Beth. Come on in guys. Everyone else is already here!"
They all piled into the house and dropped their coats on the nearby empty coat rack.
The house was enormous! They stood in the large marble foyer where a giant spiral staircase lead to the next floor. The ceiling was easily over ten feet high and the crystal chandelier hanging above the front door lit the place up brilliantly. Shannon, Amanda and Eddie all stared at in awe at the size of the front hall.
"Come on, everyone's in the kitchen." Beth said as she walked around the corner. The three of them followed.
The kitchen was just as huge as the foyer. Even though it was packed with the entire event planning committee and several other students there was still plenty of room to move around.
"Um, This doesn't look like a study group." Shannon whispered to Beth.
"Don't be silly. This isn't JUST a study session. It's also a fun little get together." Beth smiled. "Have a drink! Lighten up!" Beth handed Shannon a dark bottle and wandered into the crowd of people.
"This doesn't look like a "little" get together." Eddie muttered. Amanda nodded in agreement.
"I've seen this before." Amanda said in a hushed voice. "This is an excuse to have a party." She pointed at the dark bottle Shannon was given. "The label was peeled off. Ten to one says it's beer."
Shannon sniffed the bottle. She didn't smell anything unusual. "Well, here goes." She took a big gulp of it.
"What is it?" Eddie asked.
"It's root beer." Shannon laughed. "It's just root beer." She took another gulp.
"Well then, were can I get one?" Amanda smiled and bounded off into the crowd.
"You want one, Eddie?" Shannon asked.
"I'll pass. I actually came to study. And I suggest you do too. You're failing History after all."
"I'll find a quiet spot to study in a bit. I just want to mingle first." Shannon smiled at Eddie. Eddie just stared dead pan. "I promise! Just a bit of mingling before we study."
"Ok fine. If you need me I'll be," Eddie looked around unsure of where to go "somewhere on the main floor." He finished and left the kitchen.
