The next installment of Shannon!
Trust me, this is all working up to something big! Just have patience!
Every day after classes the planning committee would meet and discuss what to include for their Halloween dance. Damien even came back and helped. Meetings about what was needed, meetings about how to arrange the cafetorium appropriately, what to include what not to include. Shannon felt it was all so disorienting. Friday couldn't come soon enough.
As Friday arrived Shannon and the rest of the committee waited for Cassie to arrive. She finally arrive almost half an hour late.
"Alright, I'm here." She announced slamming the door wide open. "Lets get this over with."
Cassie walked into the room draped on either side by two of her cronies. They looked unimpressed and board.
Beth stepped forward. "Ms. president. We've put together a plan for an excellent Halloween dance. We think you'll agree." she said, handing a small stack of papers to Cassie.
Cassie looked at them disgustingly. "Fine." She sighed audibly and sat down to look over the plans.
Ben stepped forward next. "As you can see we've laid out plans for the DJ and even a refreshments stand outside the cafetorium."
Cassie rolled her eyes and kept looking over the plans.
"We also included a section for some Halloween themed games." Beth pointed out.
"Games? This is a dance. There's not games at a dance. Lose the lame games." Cassie commanded. Beth shrank back not sure what to say.
"Everything included is waiting your final approval, ms. president." Ben said. "We can take out whatever you don't approve."
"We also included a map for visual aid." Damien blurted from the group. "Ya know, in case you were having trouble following along."
Cassie glared at Damien but said nothing. She stood up and handed the papers back to Beth.
"Well, it all looks fine. Go ahead and start planning your Halloween party. Remember, no lame games."
"Y-yes ms. president!" Beth stammered.
Cassie and her friends started walking out of the room.
"Ms. president, we still need to discuss our budget for this." Ben called after her.
Cassie stopped and turned to face them. "What budget?"
"The budget to hire the DJ? Buy the refreshments? Decorations? Pretty much everything we need to hold this dumb dance?" Damien said.
"There is none." Cassie said callously and turned to leave.
"But, if there's no budget how are we supposed to plan anything!?" Beth cried.
"That's not my problem." Cassie said without looking back.
"We need a budget! Even if its just a small one!" Ben called out.
Cassie stopped, turned around, and walked back to the group.
"The budget is currently being put to more important use elsewhere."
"What's so important you can't spare anything?" Shannon asked, folding her arms.
"A lot!" Cassie began listing off. "New uniforms for our sports teams. New uniforms for the cheerleading squad. Money set aside for transportation to away games for all our sports teams. Investments in newer and better vending machines in the cafetorium." Cassie turned and walked towards the door stopping as she reached it. "Oh yeah, and new textbooks to replace the unusable ones."
"What are we supposed to do for money?" asked Beth.
"Do what everyone else does." Cassie laughed as she walked away. "Fundraise!"
