Shannon

I want to keep writing but unfortunately I have other things I have to do.

Like go to my shitty job....

"You're our student council president!?" Shannon cried out in shock.

"Nice to see you too, Shannon. I guess they'll let anyone into the planning committee." Cassie sneered.

"That's the point of volunteers." said Ben.

"Well," Cassie continued without stopping, "it's a good thing I'm here to officiate your activities. Otherwise who knows what kind of lame events you'd plan." Cassie smiled smugly at Shannon.

Shannon could feel her blood boiling. She wanted to smack the smug look off her face.

Beth stood up. "Well, ms. president we're honored to have you here. We'll get started on list of ideas for the events we could run throughout the school year and..."

"That won't be necessary." Cassie interrupted. "I already know what events I want you to throw."

"You do?" Beth asked, surprised.

"That's not your job though." Damien chided.

"I'm student council president, I have final say on what events you can and can't run. The way I see it, if you don't come up with the exact events I want you won't be doing anything."

"Why you..." Damien jumped from his chair he looked like he was ready to fight.

"I'm just cutting out the middle man. I guess that'd be you." Cassie mocked.

Damien slammed his fists onto the desk alarming everyone. The two sleeping students woke up. He glared at Cassie for a moment before storming out of the room.

"What's his damage." Cassie asked.

"Oh, Damien is just a little high strung. Don't worry ms. president, he'll be back."

"Whatever." Cassie waved her hand dismissively. "I already know the first event I want you all to plan. Since October is already here I want you to work on planning a Halloween dance."

"We'll get right on it!" Beth announced proudly.

"I want to see a concrete plan by friday." Cassie said as she headed for the door.

"But the committee meets once a week." Shannon pointed out.

"That's not my problem." Cassie laughed as she walked out of the room.

Shannon turned to Beth. "Can she do that?"

Beth shrugged. "Ben?" everyone in the group turned to Ben.

"She's allowed to make requests. Whether we do what she says or not is entirely up to us." Ben adjusted his glasses after he spoke.

"See! I knew it! She's just trying to push us around!" Shannon felt more confident in herself now.

"However, if we don't do anything she can close down the planning committee." Ben adjusted his glasses again. "But we'd have to be especially wasteful of our allocated budget and time for that to even pass."

"Shoot." Shannon slumped back down into her chair. "So what are we going to do?"

"I suggest we meet every day and hammer out a plan for the Halloween dance. After all it sounds like fun." Beth suggested. A couple students groaned at the thought of being there every day after school.

"We don't even know our budget yet." Ben pointed out. "All we can do is offer some semblance of a plan before we have anything concrete."

"Well, we've planned every event for this school in the past 3 years Ben! We can do it!" Beth cheered. A couple of students nodded their heads in agreement. "We'll meet tomorrow, then we can begin planning."
