Shannon on Shannon!
I want to never stop writing this. But it has to end at some point...
For the next few weeks Shannon, Aberdine, and Eddie went around the school having students fill out their survey. As March Break and the student council president nominations drew closer they began to look over the answers the students had given.
"These don't make any sense." Eddie said flipping through papers. "This student wants optional weekend access to the school, and this one wants every Friday off."
"Not only are those contradictory," said Aberdine, "but they're both things out of the control of the Student Council President." She slapped her stack of papers down on the table. "It's like these students don't know what they want!"
"Maybe we're looking at this the wrong way." Shannon said. "Maybe, instead of finding out what the students want, we should instead focus on what we want to improve."
"Instead of just getting Cassie tossed out, you mean." Eddie said.
"So what do we want to change?" Aberdine asked. "I mean, other than Cassie as president."
"Well, for starters I'd be nice if all the groups and clubs got equal funding." Shannon said. "And maybe we could get a debit machine in the cafeteria."
"We could fill the pot holes in the student parking lot." Eddie suggested.
"No one cares about that." Aberdine said.
"Students with cars care" Eddie stuck his tongue out.
"And that's a minority." Aberdine shoved Eddie away. "So you wanna run, Shannon."
Shannon thought about it for a moment. "No. I think I like working behind the scenes. Maybe Amanda could run? You said she's popular, so that'll make up for the lack of experience. Right?"
"Well, it couldn't hurt to ask her." Aberdine shrugged.
"Sure, I'll run." Amanda smiled as she put her shoes on after practice. "Since our season's almost over I'll be able to focus on this president race or whatever."
"Thank you so much!" Shannon said as she hugged Amanda. "We need someone who's popular so we can at least stand a chance to take on Cassie."
"But no one pays attention to these things, I thought." Amanda said.
"Well, this time we'll have to make them pay attention. We'll talk to the principal and do announcements, maybe even have a debate!" Shannon wrung her hands in excitement. Amanda started to look a little worried.
"I don't know, Shannon. I'm not really good at the whole, debate thing."
"Don't worry. Eddie and I will coach you." Shannon patted Amanda on the head. "Just let us to the thinking. You're just the front woman."
