The Train Part 1

I'm gonna try something a bit different.

This is a multi-part short story. Today's entry is Part 1

The train zoomed through the frozen wastes. Barely a streak of light at a distance. The gentle click-clack of the tracks was replaced with a thunderous roar as the gears squealed around every corner. Barely moving at a safe pace. Inside, the trains residents waited for their destination.

There was a small girl, Kimberly, who sat alone in her cabin. She stared out into the blackness. She didn't remember getting on the train. She didn't remember where she was going. All she could remember was this cabin, and the stuffed doll in her hands.

She got up and opened the door. She held the doll close. "Time to go exploring Mr. Bubbles." She left the cabin.

As she walked the swaying hallways of the train the first person she met was the snack cart attendant.

"Hello little girl." The attendant said sweetly. "Where are you headed?"

"Me and Mr. Bubbles are going exploring." She said showing off her doll.

"What a handsome doll." The attendant said. "Don't get lost now. We'll be arriving at our destination any minute now."

"Where are we going?" Kimberly asked.

The attendant laughed loudly. "Oh sweetie. Everyone knows where we're headed." She smiled and pushed her cart down the swaying hallway.
