I felt like there was some things I wanted to explain after, so I wrote an Epilouge!
Actually, I quiet enjoy writing Avery Simmon's Character, I may use him again someday!
Avery Simmon's sat at the resort bar, sipping his scotch in solitude. The bar was lively, but where Avery sat it seemed to be gloomy and empty. He had been going over the case in his head. He didn't like how it ended. He liked figuring things out for himself; a confession didn't sit well with him. As he emptied his glass Daniel Watson walked up.
"Hey, Simmons!" Daniel smiled and took the seat next to Avery. "Two beers for me and my friend here!" Daniel ordered the bartender. He turned to Avery. "So how about that case eh? Solved in a day! That's gotta be some kind of record!"
"Most cases are solved in 24 hours. It's rare they last longer, actually." The bartender placed a beer in front of Avery. He took it reluctantly.
"But still, who would've thought that someone Christine Prim would be a murderer! Ivan I can understand, the guy was built like a house, but that Christine just seemed so, charming."
"Ivan thought so." Avery sipped his beer in repulsion. He hated the taste of beer, he preferred whiskey.
"Yeah, we took her back to precinct and questioned her. After a while she told us how she did it. Choked the life out of her. All over Adam. It's a shame she never knew he was gay. Imagine how that would've turned out." Daniel laughed and took a swig of beer. "Come on, lighten up! We solved the mystery!"
"I just wasn't happy with how it ended. I like hunting them down, cornering them with evidence and crushing their lies in front of their faces. I love the hunt of it. A confession seems like cheating."
"Doesn't it give you hope though? That someone could have a conscience after all that? I mean sometimes I think the world is filled with sick-os who don't care what they do to people. But then someone like Ivan, yeah he killed two people, but he really was remorseful over it!"
"Still doesn't make what he did right."
"No! No definitely not! I'm not defending it at all. I'm just saying, you don't see it that often." Daniel finished his beer and looked at Avery's still full glass. "You gonna drink that?"
Avery slid the glass towards Daniel. "Thanks but I'm not a beer drinker, maybe some other time you can buy me a shot of whiskey. I'm gonna hit the hay. It's been a.... long day." Avery waved bye to Daniel.
As Avery was about to leave the bar a scream was heard from behind. He turned to see a man collapsed on the floor. People were crowded around. Curiosity got the better of him and he moved towards the inner circle of the crowd. Daniel had already moved past everyone and was checking on the man on the floor.
"What's going on?" Avery inquired as he pushed his way towards Daniel. Daniel looked up at Avery with confusing and shock in his eyes.
"He's dead."
