Murder Mystery Part 11

The finally has come! Sure took long enough! PHEW!

See, I started this as just some crazy idea then it kind of grew bigger than I initially intended, so I decided to see if I could do it! The blog has been mostly about short stories, poems, and other one-off things (with the exception of Jag Ajula), but I wanted to see if I COULD write a continuing story. The downside was I wrote each new part each day, so I had to deal with all the mistakes I made as I went. If I wanted to have someone mention a name in an earlier part, but they didn't, I had to find clever ways of bringing up the name in the latest installment. It was... stressful sometimes.

Anyways. I finished this today so, Enjoy the conclusion!

Avery waited a few rooms away from Suite 21. Adam came walking up.

"I don't know why I agreed to this." Adam said as he handed over the electronic key to his room.

"I just needed to get ahold of her without her knowing what's going on."

"What is going on?" Adam tried to look Avery in the eye. Avery averted his gaze.

"I'll fill you in after. Just go find Officer Watson and bring him here." Avery quickly headed towards Suite 21.

He walked up the steps and opened the door with Adam's key. Sprawled out on the bed was Christine. She looked shocked to see Avery.

"Not who you expected to see?"

"What are you doing here? This is a private suite."

"Adam lent me the key." Avery showed her the electronic card before he tossed it on the dresser next to him. He produced his notepad and monogram pen. "Ms. Prim. I have a few questions regarding the victim."

"I don't know anything about Kim other than her and Adam were an item." Christine sat up on the edge of the bed. "I should go look for Adam." She got up to leave but Avery reached out and shut the door blocking her path.

"I'm not done." Avery stared down Christine. She sat back down on the bed.

"How long have you worked here?"

"Since I moved here from Florida. Listen, I should really get going. If you see Adam tell him I'll see him tonight." Christine moved for the door again, Avery stepped in front of the door and leaned on it.

"Just one more question."

"Fine. Get on with it already!" Christine folded her arms and looked away annoyed.

"How did you think you would get away with it?"

"Get away with what?" Christine chided.

Avery smiled and pulled Glen Endritch's camera from his pocket. The LCD screen showing the image of Ivan stabbing the body of Kimberly Douglas. Christine reached for the camera but Avery held it out of her reach.

"Where did you get that!? That's Glen's Camera!"

"Oh, you knew mr. Endritch?"

"Yes! He worked here! How'd you get it?"

"Ivan gave it to me."

Christine stopped reaching for the camera and stared in shock at Avery. The realization of the situation creeping in.

"Ivan's confessed you coerced him into murdering Kim."

Christine's eyes darted as she thought of any excuse. "That liar! I told him not to kill her! He said she disrespected me, that she defiled my honor and deserved to die! I told him not too! He must of hunted her down and strangled her!"

"That's almost how he tells it."

"When I found out what he did, I called off our wedding! To think I was going to marry such a heartless beast!"

"There's just a small error with your story."

"What?" Christine's eyes darted. She could sense the walls closing in. Avery smiled. He savored the moment before answering.

"No one knew she suffocated."

"What?"

"There's no way you should know she was strangled. The autopsy report only came in now."

"Well, Ivan told me."

"Ivan thought he stabbed her to death." Avery paused. "After you told him she was drugged." Christine looked around frantically. Avery smiled and stepped away from the door. "Ms. Prim. I'm placing you under arrest for the murders of Kimberly Douglas and Glen Endritch."

"Ivan killed, Glen."

"It doesn't matter. You're both going to jail."

Avery opened the door as Officer Daniel Watson and Adam walked up the pathway. Daniel placed Christine in hand cuffs and lead her away.
