Reuinited and it feels so good!

We continue with the cliff hanger I left you on Tuesday!

Who was it that called Shannon's name? WHO!? Was it Aberdine? was it Jeremy? Who!?

Shannon quickly turned to see what was behind her. There sat Amanda surrounded by her friends. "Shannon, what are you doing here?"

Shannon's mind raced to think of an excuse, in the end she settled on just admitting the truth. "Eddie's got a girlfriend, and I'm trying to find out who she is."

"He does?" Amanda rushed to the door and peaked out the window. Eddie was walking down the hallway. Alone. "He's alone."

"I'm following him to find out who she is. I haven't seen her yet." Shannon peaked through the window, deemed it safe to continue, and opened the door to slide out and follow him once again. Amanda turned to her friend Jasmine, a tall thin girl with a dark tan and black hair.

"Tell Mr. Hanshan I'm sick." and then she ducked out.

Amanda quickly snuck up next to Shannon who was peering around the corner as Eddie climbed a set of stairs to his next class.

"What makes you think he's got a girlfriend?" she whispered.

"He told me he doesn't." Shannon answered.

Amanda shook her head. "Sorry but that makes no sense! If he told you he doesn't have a girlfriend, maybe he doesn't have a girlfriend."

Shannon stood up and faced Amanda. "Look. I know Eddie better than anyone else. I know when he's lying and when he's trying to hide something. He's hiding who this mysterious girlfriend is. If you're going to follow me do so quietly so he doesn't know we're here."

Shannon turned and stealthily climbed the stairs continuing her pursuit of Eddie. Amanda kept close with no effort. They quickly came to Eddie's class room where he was just walking in. Shannon and Amanda snuck up and peer into the class. Shannon crouched to the floor to keep herself from being spotted.

Eddie had walked to the back of the class where he sat next to the flirty girl from the lockers. He folded his arms behind his back and leaned against the wall. The flirty girl just looked at him giving him her best bedroom eyes. Eddie seemed to ignore it.

"Who the hell is that making gaga eyes at Eddie!" Amanda whispered.

"Some girl he talked to earlier. I think they're working on a project together. He's completely oblivious to her, so I don't think she's his girlfriend." Shannon whispered back.

Shannon stood up suddenly. The sound of footsteps approaching in the now empty hallway. Third period had begun and neither of the girls where in class. Shannon panicked.

"We need to hide!"

Amanda pointed to an open door. "Quick, lets duck in there! I think its the science offices!"

Amanda and Shannon bolted towards the open door and shut the door behind them. It wasn't until they were inside they realized they hadn't run into the science offices but the utility closet beside them.

"Way to go." Shannon hissed. Amanda shushed her and they listened quietly until the footsteps had passed.

"Now I'm really going to be late for class." Shannon groaned.

"You're gonna ditch me!? I just skipped class to follow you and Eddie around!"

"I didn't tell you to! Besides, it serves you right for ditching Eddie and I all the time!"

"I never once ditched you guys! I always told Eddie if I was busy!" It was true. Shannon remembered that Eddie was always the one explaining how Amanda wouldn't be joining them and why. "And as I recall it was YOU who walked away before Christmas!"

"Just open the door." Shannon didn't want to have this conversation. She wanted to go to class, or really be anywhere except here with Amanda.

"I can't!" Amanda hissed.

"Why not?" Shannon hissed back.

"Because there's no door knob! See!" Amanda pulled out her cell phone. The dim light from the screen showed that there was no handle on the inside, just a flat metal panel.

Shannon pushed on the door in futility. It was locked. They'd have to wait until a janitor came along to unlock it. "Great!" Shannon slumped to the floor. "Now what?"

"Well," Amanda sat down on the floor and leaned against he door. "you could tell me why you ran away before Christmas break."

"I didn't run away." Shannon pouted. "I walked."

Amanda rolled her eyes. "Shannon I'm being serious here! You're my best friend and you won't tell me what's going on!"

Shannon faced away from Amanda. They could barely see each other but Shannon couldn't look at her.

"Shannon?"

"I'm mad at you!" Shannon spat.

"I gathered that much." Amanda rolled her eyes.

"I'm mad because you never have time for me and Eddie! You're always too busy! You're out riding with new friends! It's like we don't matter to you anymore!" Shannon could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. She forced them back.

"You still matter to me! If you didn't I wouldn't have walked home with you before Christmas! I wouldn't have followed you to find who Eddie is dating! I wouldn't be trapped in this closet with you right now!" Amanda retorted.

"But you never say anything! You don't even eat lunch with us anymore."

"My friends always drag me off to other events. If not that I'm talking with my coach about basketball. I AM on the basketball team, not that you'd know. You've never come to any of my games."

"Why would I come see someone who ditches me all the time?"

"Eddie comes to my games."

Shannon fell silent.

Amanda folded her arms across her chest. "It's not like I don't have my own problems. Where have you been? You don't call me either! I only ever hear what's going on with you from Eddie!"

Shannon remained silent.

"This isn't a one way road, Shannon." Amanda looked away.

The two were silent for a few minutes. Shannon wanted to say she was sorry but she felt like it wasn't enough. She sat there thinking of something, anything to fix this. It wasn't until she heard Amanda sniffle that she knew what to do.

Shannon shuffled around and sat next to Amanda. Amanda did her best to maintain her composure.

"I never thought about it as a one way street." Shannon started. "I know it goes two ways and I didn't think that maybe I wasn't doing my best to keep our friendship going. But I was hurt. You never seemed to invite me or Eddie to join you and your new friends for lunch. Or even to invite them to join us. I miss how things used to be. We were always in the same classes and had the same teachers and did everything together. It was so easy to keep track of each other, but I guess I never thought that I wasn't putting any effort into keeping track of you. I'm sorry, Amanda." Shannon turned to Amanda who had stopped crying at this point. She smiled. Amanda lunged and hugged Shannon with all her strength.

The door behind them gave way and the tumbled out into the hall. The two girls looked up to see a confused looking janitor.

"When I was young, I would've given anything to see two girls in a closet together." He joked.

Amanda and Shannon stood up and laughed nervously. The bell rang and the two ran to the cafetorium for lunch together.
