Apparently when I'm typing in feverish emotion I make a lot more spelling mistakes.
If you spot a lot of spelling mistakes in this section just know its cause I was writing so full out I didn't notice them!
"What are you two smiling about?" Eddie looked at Amanda and Shannon's smiling faces as he sat down to lunch.
"Shannon told me that you have a girlfriend." Amanda smiled at Eddie.
"It's a lie." Eddie said plainly as he looked at Shannon, daggers in his eyes.
"It would be. No one would date a toad like you." Aberdine sat next to Shannon with her lunch. "Who's this joke?" She gestured to Amanda.
"This is my best friend, Amanda! Amanda, this is Aberdine. We have math together."
"And lunch it seems." Amanda extended her hand to Aberdine. Aberdine just glared at her and took a bite of her sandwich.
"She's like that to everyone." Eddie comforted Amanda.
"If she's your best friend how come I've never seen her before?" Aberdine asked through a mouthful.
"I've been busy." Amanda replied shyly.
"I've known Amanda almost all my life."
"Busy with what?" Aberdine asked pointedly.
"I'm on the school basketball team. I was making new friends, volunteering at soup kitchens with Jasmine." Amanda listed.
"So what happened to all your new friends?" Aberdine was being unusually smug about this.
"Nothing. I wanted to spend lunch with Shannon today. What about your other friends?" Amanda retorted. Eddie snickered
"Shannon is my best friend. I spend time with her not with fakers like them." Aberdine added.
"I'm your best friend?" Shannon was surprised and little bit touched to hear Aberdine thought of her as best friend material.
"So you have no friends then." Amanda smiled with smug self satisfaction.
"Guys, come on, don't fight." Shannon was starting to get nervous with how this was going.
"My 'friends,' if you want to call them that, betrayed me for popularity! They just wanted to look good and hang out with the cool kids." Aberdine had stopped eating.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Amanda did her best to remain polite.
"No you're not! Your kind never is!" Aberdine was standing now.
"Guys! Stop fighting! Please!" Shannon begged.
"Your kind? What do you mean by that!?" Amanda was on the defensive now.
"You popular jock types!"
"I'm not you betrayer friends!"
"You're no less a Judas!" A couple of students nearby had stopped eating and were watching now.
"Guys, please! Other people are watching us."
"Let them!" Aberdine spat. "If you're really Shannon's friend where were you all semester huh?"
"I told you, I was..."
"Busy! We heard your vague answer!" Aberdine cut her off. "If you were making friend why didn't you introduce them to Shannon? Why didn't you even invite Shannon to eat with your friends!"
"Because." Amanda was turning red. Shannon couldn't tell if it was red with rage or with embarrassment.
"Because you were ashamed?" Aberdine shot for the heart. Most of the cafetorium had gone silent and watched. as Aberdine unloaded on Amanda.
"I am not ashamed of who my friends are!" Amanda shot out of her seat glaring down on the diminutive Aberdine.
"Then where are your other friend right now!? huh!? Did you tell them you were too busy to hang out with them today!?" Aberdine had set Amanda up. Amanda stared back at Aberdine with a loss for words.
Aberdine sat picked up her sandwich and school bag, satisfied with her victory. "Thats what I mean by "your kind" too busy trying to say the right thing to ever tell the truth." She walked away.
Amanda stood there for a moment in silence before she turned and left, leaving her half-eaten fries behind.
"What just happened?" Shannon turned to Eddie.
"I dunno, but I think everyone is disappointed it didn't come to blows."
