Shannon

I can't stress enough how much fun this story is to write. I actually have to stop myself from writing otherwise I'd do nothing but write this all day!


Her first high school semester was over. And Shannon couldn't have been happier. She passed all her class with good marks and her second semester seemed to be a pretty easy going. She skipped to school, Eddie dragging his feet as they went.

"I don't know what you're so happy about." Eddie groaned. "I need more time off from school. It's still too early to go back." Eddie yawned punctuating his sentence.

"Eddie, you're too lazy." Shannon smiled. "I get to start my new classes today! No more Math, Science, History!" she giggled "Isn't that worth getting excited over?"

"No. Because you still have English and Business in your schedule." Eddie pointed out. "Those aren't exactly fluff courses. Plus I've seen you grades for gym class. Phys. Ed. will murder you."

"Phys. Ed. will murder you too ya know." Shannon shot back.

"But I never said I was excited for it." Eddie smiled smugly. Shannon punched him in the arm.

They got to school and found Amanda waiting at the front with her friend Jasmine.

"What took you guys so long!" Amanda chastised. "I've been waiting for hours!"

"Blame, Eddie. A snail could move faster than him."

"I'm not that slow." Eddie rolled his eyes as he spoke. "We got here, didn't we?"

"Yeah, with barely enough time to sync our schedules!" Amanda whipped out her schedule and impatiently snatched Shannon and Eddie's from their hands. "Let's see." She began to closely exam all three schedules. "Ugh, this semester is going to suck! I have all the hard classes! Math, Science, History, English!"

"At least we have math together." Eddie pointed they both had Math first period.

"Woohoo! Eddie my boy! We're back together!" Amanda gave him a hug, Eddie blushed and pulled away. "Let's see, what else." Amanda went back to the trio of schedules. "Hey! Shannon! We have last period English!"

"We do?" Shannon peeked at the schedules. "Huh. Awesome!"

"You bet it's awesome! I get to start and finish my day with my best friends!" Amanda handed back their schedules.

"But, we don't have any classes together." Jasmine pouted.

"That's Ok. We have lunch together! That's the most important one." Amanda winked at Jasmine. It seemed to cheer her up because she was suddenly beaming.

"Wait, we don't have lunch with you." Shannon pointed at Amanda's schedule. "You have fourth period lunch, Eddie and I have third period."

"Huh. I didn't notice that." Amanda looked at her schedule. "Well, I guess it can't be perfect, right?"

The bell rang to warn the kids that classes were about to begin.

"I guess we should get to class." Shannon smiled. "See you at lunch, Eddie! See you in english class, Amanada!" Shannon waved at them as she began her walk to class. He class was close by so she took her time. It wasn't until she was just outside the class that she realized Jasmine has been following her.

"Oh. Hey, Jasmine! I didn't know you were walking this way." Shannon smiled cheerfully hoping Jasmine would be more talkative.

"Uh, yeah." Jasmine looked around nervously. "You and I have art together first period."

"We do?"

"Yeah."

The two walked into class in awkward silence. The rest of the class was still trickling in. Shannon found a table in a corner and sat down. There was a chubby boy sitting at the same table. He blushed very hard when Shannon sat at the same table.

Jasmine stood next to Shannon for a moment.

"Uh, Jasmine. Did you want something?" Shannon asked.

"Uh, um. 'Cause you're Amanda's friend, can I sit with you?" she asked timidly.

"Sure." Shannon just shook her head in confusion. She turned to the chubby boy. "Hey, I'm Shannon, what's your name?"

The boy blushed a deeper red. He put his head down on his desk and hid his face. Shannon just shrugged.
