Shannon!

I want to write more for this but I have to work earlier today, so enjoy the first part of this segment.

Shannon stood at Amanda's front door toeing the ground nervously. Amanda had just finished berating her for wearing a rather conservative long sleeve shirt and paints to a party. Shannon argued it was cold out and Amanda countered with "We'll be inside the entire time!"

Amanda quickly grabbed her jacket from inside and had come bouncing out of the house just then. "Let's go!" She exclaimed and excitedly dragged Shannon off the front step and up the street.

After a short walk up the street they arrived. Shannon could hear the music blaring inside. The bass thumped against the walls barely being muffled before reaching outside. The shadows of the people dancing in the light seemed to be calling to her. The way they moved was inviting. The fluidity of their motions.

Amanda knocked loudly on the door and Connie opened it shortly after.

"Hey!" She called to Amanda, "Come on in!" She held the door as Amanda walked in. Shannon stepped into the house as Connie let the door swing shut on thumping hard against Shannon. Shannon shouldered the door and finished admitting herself to the house. She shot an annoyed glance at Connie who didn't seem to notice or care that Shannon was there.

"Hey, Connie!" Amanda said cheerfully. "Is everyone here?"

"Everyone except my parents." Connie smiled wickedly. "That means we get free range!" Connie laughed and walked off to the kitchen.

Shannon looked around inside the house. The living room was filled with people bobbing and weaving to the music. The stereo system was blasting and waves of heat emanated from the room. Every light in the house was on and every room was occupied by at least a five or six people. Shannon felt nervous. She didn't recognize anyone.

"Who are these people?" She whispered to Amanda who was hanging up their jackets in the back of the closet.

"I don't know. I've maybe only met half of them." Amanda admitted before heading off to the kitchen.

Even meeting half of these people terrified Shannon. Some of them looked questionable at best. It was clear Shannon was in for a long night.
