Shannon

Another installment of Shannon to brighten your day!

I keep thinking of how far I need to go and how little time I have left on the blog....

"No I have nothing you can help me with." Eddie said for the umpteenth time, rolling his eyes.

"Well, if you do let me know." Shannon said.

"What's this about?" Aberdine asked as she sat down with the others.

"Shannon wants to help people." Amanda informed her through a mouthful of sandwich.

"Why?" Aberdine asked.

"I don't just want to help people." Shannon explained. "I want to do something important, something I'll be remembered by. Give others a chance when they need it. And it doesn't need to be something world changing, like world peace."

"Though that would be nice." Aberdine chimed.

"I just want to know that I did what I could to help others." Shannon sighed and rest her head on the table starring at her food. "I just don't know what that is right now."

The others looked at each other with worried eyes.

"You'll figure it out, Shannon. Don't worry." Amanda patted her head reassuringly.

"If I knew where to begin it wouldn't seem so scary." Shannon said sitting up.

"Well, what are you good at?" Aberdine asked.

"I was hoping you guys could tell me that." Shannon admitted.

"Well, your charasmatic, empathetic." Aberdine began listing.

"And you're not above apologizing for your mistakes." Amanda added.

"So that means politics is out." Aberdine snickered.

"But how can I use that to help others?" Shannon asked.

"You could become a therapist." Eddie suggested. "And they make a lot of money so you'd be set financially."

"I don't want to just help people who can pay for it." Shannon said glaring at Eddie. Eddie just shrugged and went back to eating his lunch.

"Why don't you join the school event planners?" Amanda suggested. "They always need volunteers. That's sort of helping?"

"Gag! Don't join them, they're lame." Aberdine interjected "Just spend a few days thinking it over. You'll figure out what you can do eventually."

"Well, it couldn't hurt to volunteer." Shannon said timidly. "I'll check it out soon."

"Don't wait too long. They only allow new members to join in the first few weeks of school and tonight is the last day to join any clubs or committees." Amanda informed her.

"Will you guys join with me?" asked Shannon. "I don't want to be the only one there without any friends." Shannon looked at them with the saddest face she could put on.

"I can't, I have Basketball team tryouts." Amanda said. "I'm sure Eddie will join!"

"Hey hey! Don't put words in my mouth. I'm not a club kinda guy." Eddie said hastily.

"It's not a club, its a committee." Amanda said.

"I'm not a committee guy either." Eddie turned to Shannon. "I support your decision, but I won't be joining it."

Shannon pouted and turned to Aberdine.

"No way!" Aberdine said immediately. "I said they're lame and I stick to my slanderous assertion. You can join if you want, but leave me out of it."

"Fine, I guess I'm on my own."
