Short Story Saturday!

It took me a while to figure out what to write today. I had a lot of ideas, like someone going to get a haircut.

Finally this kind of evolved from all my ideas.

I like it!

Dot was walking to school like she did everyday. She was walking down the main street like she did everyday. But as she was about to reach her destination she saw something she'd never seen before.

There was a small walkway branching off from main street. It was only a few feet wide, just enough really for one person to walk down it. She looked down the pathway.

It looked rather pleasant, if not a bit unusual.

Dot took a step towards the pathway but stopped. She had to get to school. The school bell would ring soon.

Dot turned and finished her walk to school.

"I'll check it out on the way home." She said to herself.

After school she walked home, like she did everyday. She was walking up the main street like she did everyday. But today she was looking for something she'd never seen before.

There was no small walkway to be found. As she finished walking home she was a bit sad.

"Maybe I just overlooked it. I'll find it tomorrow." She said to herself.

The next day she walked to school like she did every day. She was walking down the main street like she did everyday. But today she was looking for the walk way.

As she walked down the street, her head glancing left and right, she found no sign of the side street. Defeated she finished her walk to school.

The next day she walked to school like she did every day. She was walking down the main street like she did everyday. Today taking her time.

The street was the same as always. There was no sign of that mysterious side street. Dot was beginning to wonder if she had imagined the entire thing. She had to find it!

That weekend she spent it walking up and down the main street looking for the side street. She walked up one side then down the other. Then she walked down the other side and up the other.

After walking the length of the main street, which was  quite a long street, she finally gave up. Was Dot going to ever see that side street again? She wished she had just walked up the side street the first time she saw it.

The next day Dot walked to school like she did everyday. She walked up the main street like she did everyday. She looked for the side street like she did,

every,

day.
