Short Story Saturdays!

Every once in a while I write something like this and think, this is why I should be writing for film....

Or maybe it's a by product of learning how to write for film....

Sal looked at the framed picture on his dorm room desk. It had a picture of him and his girlfriend of 2 years. They started dating in high school and knew each other even longer. But lately things hadn't been well.

"Are you sure you want me to go?" She asked.

"No. But I'm tired. I should go anyway." Sal said.

Sal rubbed his face and put on his favorite shirt. Whenever he wore it good things happened. He was always lucky in it. His girlfriend bought him it before they started dating. He wore it on their first date. He got lucky that night.

"Why won't you open up to me?"

"I'm tired. I should let you go."

Sal sprayed himself down with a quick spritz of cologne. He grabbed his knapsack filled with tall boys and headed to the party.

"You seem distracted. Is something wrong?"

"No. I'm just thinking."

"Like what?"

"Nothing."

The party had already started. Sal could tell from the music blaring down the hall. He walked up to the open door. A couple of the partygoers nodded to acknowledge Sal. He nodded back.

"SAL!"

"It was such a long day. I couldn't stand it."

"Uhuh."

"Sal, are you there?"

"..."

"SAL!"

"Sal! I'm so glad you came!" A girl came running over and threw her arms around Sal in a big hug.

"Hey, Cindy. Yeah I wouldn't miss this."

"You've got to meet my room mate! C'mon! I'll show you off!" She put her hand up to her mouth. "Oops! I mean show you around!"

"Who's Cindy?"

"Just a friend."

"How come you never told me about her?"

"Look, let's not fight, just tell me how your day was."

Sal kept drinking. The party had died down now mostly. Everyone had almost left. It was just Sal and Cindy now.

"I should probably head back to my room."

"I'll walk you." Cindy jumped up immediately.

"I think I can still find my way home."

"I know." Cindy smiled.

"So what are you doing tonight?"

"I'm just going to some party."

"Whose party?"

"Cindy's."

Sal unlocked his dorm room door. Cindy pushed her way in.

"So this is your room? It's missing something."

"Oh? And what's that?"

"A woman."

"Hey, babe! I just wanted to call say hi!"

"Hey, thanks."

"I know how lonely you get away at collage. Away from me and your family."

"Yeah."

Their bodies were pressed closely together. Sal could feel her breath on his neck. Her breasts were pushed tightly against his chest. He could see them heaving up and down with each heavy breathe. She pushed him up against his dorm room desk. He reached back and found the picture frame. He turned it face down.
