This is kind of where I wanted to end the last one on Thursday...
Shannon stood in the same hallway with his vague smell of moth balls and slightly cooler air. The sign read 1408 and it made her smile. For the first time since the school year started Shannon felt excited about something. She opened the door and walked in.
The row of the other students continued without pause to acknowledge her. She quickly sat between the same two sleeping students. Beth came over and hugged Shannon.
"I'm so glad you decided to join!" She said. "I was wondering if we were going to keep enough students to run the committee this year." She leaned in and dropped her voice to a whisper. "Last year Damien almost quit, taking all the students in his grade. We would've had to shut down the committee."
Shannon nodded. "That won't happen this year, will it?" she asked a bit nervous.
"No." Beth reassured. "Ben and Damien fight all the time but nothing ever comes of it."
"So what are we going to do this year?"
"Well," Damien interjected ending his argument with Ben, "the student council president was only elected this week and we've yet to meet them."
"Until they come in and discuss their plans for the school year we have no planned events." Ben finished.
"So whose the student council president?" Shannon asked. "I didn't hear an announcement telling us who won."
"I am your student council president." came a familiar voice. The voice sent chills down Shannon's spine as she looked at the door to reveal what she already knew.
"President Cassie Hudson."
